President of Lithuania received credentials from Maltese Ambassador

Vilnius, February 4th. President of the Republic of Lithuania received today the letters of credence from the Ambassador of Malta, Mark Miceli-Farrugia.

Lithuania and Malta should step up their co-operation in the fields of trade and economy, expand the legal framework of such co-operation as well as intensify the exchange of business delegations and strengthen their relations in the political and cultural area and in the field of tourism, the President said at the ceremony.

“Lithuania and Malta today are actively preparing for the life in the European Union. European integration offers new opportunities for free trade, movement and education as well as for establishing closer contacts between different cultural institutions”, said President Adamkus.

In the words of the head of Lithuania, signing a bilateral Agreement on Investment Promotion and Protection would contribute to the strengthening of Lithuanian-Maltese economic contacts.
